First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Red Dot.
Purchaser
It wasn't too tough, only 3 rounds. First, a phone screening. Then, an interview with HR and purchasing managers. Finally, an interview with purchasing and cross-functional team managers. They can make a decision pretty quickly, usually within 2-3 weeks.
- Could you introduce yourself?
- What made you decide to apply to Red Dot?
- Can you describe a situation you faced?
Software Engineer
So first, I sent in my CV and then had to do this set of 10 multiple choice questions, like testing code outputs and finding bugs. After that, there was an online programming contest, it had like 3,000 people, and 8 problems, pretty easy to medium difficulty, and I could use any language. I did pretty well, got 12th place, and that got me an online interview.
- Can you find the missing number in an array of distinct numbers from 0 to n?
Trainer
The first interview was online via Teams, the people I spoke with were really nice and the atmosphere was relaxed. They answered my questions very kindly and quickly explained the next steps. There would be another interview on-site.
- What interests you about a new apprenticeship?
- What do you know about red dot?
Buyer/Planner
The recruiter reached out for a screening call. Then there was an interview with the hiring manager, followed by an interview with the Director. Interviews were supposed to be on-site, but due to Covid, things were different. I applied online via LinkedIn and got a call from a recruiter who seemed busy. She scheduled an interview for the following Tuesday and said I'd get a confirmation email with important details about the check-in process and what to bring. I didn't get the email until Monday night. I did some research on the company and read some not-so-great reviews on Glassdoor. I also looked up my interviewers on LinkedIn and Facebook. I showed up 15 minutes early to a dark, windowless building. I filled out the check-in information, but missed the temperature check. After waiting past my interview time, someone came and pointed out I missed the temperature check. They found a room for the interview. The room was old and poorly furnished. The interviewer introduced themselves and then had to leave to get my information because they hadn't looked at anything beforehand. They returned and said I was qualified but needed to see if I'd fit the team. They asked about 15 standard questions from a packet. The power went out during the interview but came back on. Towards the end, I asked about company culture, and they talked about communication methods, complaining about Skype. They then asked if I had questions and suggested I might ask about next steps. They mentioned a potential promotion in about two years if I performed well. After some days, I played phone tag with the recruiter and set up an interview with the Director. The waiting room experience for the Director interview was chaotic, with people talking loudly and delivery drivers around. The person at the front desk was the recruiter. I waited past my interview time. The previous hiring manager walked by, didn't recognize me, and spoke to someone else. Eventually, the Director came and took me to a larger conference room with whiteboards and a window overlooking manufacturing.
- Are you able to come in for an interview?
- What do you think about our company's mission, values, and culture?
- Do you think you will be a good fit for the team?
