Software Engineer
First, there was a quick challenge problem. Then, I was sent some hardware to work with for a second, more challenging problem. The challenges themselves were interesting. However, the communication with the company was terrible. I had to send multiple emails to get a response. They were 15 minutes late for a scheduled phone call and only called after I reminded them via email. My last email with my results from the second challenge has been unanswered for two weeks. I didn't fully complete the problem, but I documented my results in detail. They might have dismissed me because it wasn't finished, but I have no clue since they didn't reply. My experiences buying things on craigslist have been better.
- Tell me about the quick challenge problem you were given.
- Describe the more challenging problem you worked on, including the hardware aspect.
Software Development Engineer
MY WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I sent my CV via e-mail and got a challenge a week later, it had two parts and I had 7 days to submit. I deployed a fully functional code for challenge #1 and wrote an 8-page write-up. I also fully completed the puzzle challenge #2. Submitted everything within the time limit, including my motivation. No response, AT ALL. It really upset me that I spent ~50-60hrs and got NO response. I sent 10 follow-up emails, DM'd the job poster on Reddit, messaged them on LinkedIn, and even asked a co-worker for an update via LinkedIn. NO RESPONSE - EVER. I didn't even get an acknowledgement. While I was spending all this time, I was also studying for my Masters, preparing for OSCP, and working night shifts. Will I have this time back?!
- The challenge included a code challenge and a puzzle.
Senior Software Engineer
You were sent a couple of take home challenges via email. One involved your resume and a challenge, the other was a programming challenge. The programming challenge took some time due to the design specification.
- Complete the take-home assignments.
