First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Recursion Pharmaceuticals.
Software Engineer
The interview started off great with clear communication about who would be interviewing me and the interview format. I felt well-treated in all video interactions. However, very little time was dedicated to discussing my extensive and highly relevant background. It wasn't clear what the role specifically required, as the hiring manager seemed to be recruiting for two teams with optimism, rather than for a defined single role. After a long 6-week interview period, I was kept waiting for another 6 weeks, with updates each week saying they needed just one more week to review candidates. Ultimately, after another missed communication deadline, I received an automated rejection email. I was expecting it, but the lack of respect for my application after dedicating so much time, meeting several directors, and reaching the final interview stage was shocking.
- Can you teach us about something that you find fascinating?
Software Engineer
Applied online and got a phone screen with the engineering manager who asked some technical and non-technical questions. Then got a link for a 2-hour take-home coding exercise that I could do in any language and it was pretty straightforward. After that, I went to Recursion for the onsite interviews. I met with the CTO and COO and talked about my past experience and personality. Had an hour-long 'algorithms on a whiteboard' session, an open-ended design question, and an interview with a product manager. Lunch was provided, and the whole onsite part took about 4 hours. They gave immediate feedback on the problem-solving questions. Got an offer about a week later. The process was very professional and they accommodated my schedule well.

Software Engineer
The interview experience was good; the person taking my interview was polite. Asked questions about my resume and behavioural questions. I cleared a pre-coding round first before the interview. Not sure why I did not get an offer, but it seemed like a great company.
- Can you discuss some deep learning concepts?
- Could you tell me about your resume?
- Do you have any behavioral questions for me?
