First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Recursion Pharmaceuticals.
Data Scientist
I spoke with their Data Science director over the phone. We discussed my previous projects, specifically those relevant to the role. It was a really detailed phone screen where they dug into project specifics to ensure I understood them. After that, I was invited to interview at their office. It was one of the most comprehensive data science interviews I've encountered, and I've had quite a few (over 15). I found it to be a challenging but enjoyable experience.
- Can you elaborate on your past projects and their relevance to this role?
- Could you provide technical details about the projects you've worked on?
- Describe your experience with previous projects.
Data Scientist
The interview process was mostly fine, but they asked some questions that could easily be looked up online. These were basic theories that people might forget but are simple to find answers for. It made me wonder if they were just testing memory. This role seems better suited for someone who can handle practical, hands-on tasks.
- I signed an NDA, so I cannot share the specific questions.
Data Scientist Intern
I was given two hackerrank coding tests, the first one was not difficult, but the second one was tricky and didn't really seem to be related to the job. They ended up cancelling a scheduled interview based on my performance on the second test.
- Questions on patterns
- Questions on algorithms (including Dijkstra's algorithm)
- Questions on simulation and SQL SELECT statements
