Product Manager
This was a super long interview process. First, a recruiter screen. Then, a live product sense interview. After that, I had a virtual onsite with two more product sense interviews. The second part of the virtual onsite was another product sense interview, focused on a current project. The craziest part was a PHYSICAL ON-SITE INTERVIEW for a remote job! They flew me out to HQ for a CULTURE-FIT interview with the executives. It just seems like a waste of time and money for them, not trusting or training their people.
- Are you prepared to face the challenges ahead?
Product Manager
it started with a chat with the hiring recruiter about my background and why i was interested in recharge. then i had an interview with a senior pm where we talked about product methodologies and a case study. to wrap things up, i interviewed with the co-founder and did another case study. i didn't get an offer, but everyone i met was really nice and professional.
- Why are you interested in Recharge?
- Can you describe your experience with product methodologies?
- Could you walk me through the case study?
Product Manager
The initial phone screen was great; they did a really good job of getting me excited about the opportunity and the prospects, and since I work in the subscription space, it seemed like a perfect fit. However, the next two rounds took a totally different turn. I couldn't describe the people I talked to as anything less than arrogant. Since I work in the industry, they actually had the audacity to ask me to share my screen and walk them through the platforms and products I've built. It seemed more like a market research tactic than anything else. They treated me much more like a competitor than a person who loved the industry and had great respect for their company. The Director of Product, Justin, was a complete jerk – condescending, passive-aggressive, with an air of superiority. Not my kind of guy. I would have never worked there.
- Could you share your screen and walk us through some of the projects you've worked on?
