First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Reach PLC.
Software Engineer
The interview process had 3 straightforward stages. It started with a recruiter call where we chatted about my experience related to the job. Then, I had an interview with the tech lead which was a light technical interview. The first round focused on my CV, asking about my usage of specific languages and technical concepts. Next was a take-home exercise involving a node path detection task. Although take-homes can be debated, this one was fair with flexible requirements and recruiter check-ins. The final stage was over an hour long with the tech lead and another developer. We spent about half the time discussing the take-home task at a high level, how to improve it, and production-related aspects like logging and testing. The other half was a deeper technical Q&A based on my CV. The final stage was conversational, asking about technological concepts like the Node.js event loop, ACID databases, REST APIs, differences between database types, Unix vs. Linux, AWS services, and queuing services like AWS SNS vs. SQS. These technical questions were tailored to my CV and the take-home task, generated on the spot. Despite not getting the role, the team was impressed, noting the other candidate was stronger. It was a good experience overall, especially the final interview which was nice and conversational. I didn't know everything but could recover, and the interviewer managed the pace well. The company seems chill. While they mentioned what to expect over the phone, a written brief for expectations and preparation, especially for the final round, would have been helpful. Still, a great process.

CRM Manager
The interview process included a competency-based interview focusing on specific skills and a pre-prepared task related to the role's responsibilities. There were multiple people on the panel with differing levels of seniority, both direct and indirect management. The interview had multiple stages: the first was a more informal telephone call, and the second was a longer video format.
- Can you give examples of your past experience that are relevant to the required skills?
- Could you share specific examples from your previous work that demonstrate your skills?
Designer
So the interview process for the Junior Designer role at Reach PLC went like this: first, there was like a quick chat to see if I was a good fit, talking about my background, what I was interested in, and my skills. Then, I had to show my portfolio, talking through my past work and how I approach design. After that, I did a practical design task to show I could be creative and had the technical chops. Lastly, I met the whole team in a panel interview.
- Can you tell me about the design tools you typically use and the reasons behind your choices?
