The interview process started with meeting the manufacturing engineering manager. I had to wait outside for a while before being allowed in. Then, I was taken to a room with five other employees. The interview mainly focused on whether I would be comfortable with hands-on machine support, which differed from the advertised design engineer role that mentioned creative design elements and supporting the manufacturing floor. I expected the role to involve more Solidworks for designing tooling and manufacturing equipment to improve processes or upgrade machinery, but it seemed more like a hands-on manufacturing floor position. Afterward, I was interviewed again by three other people in a different room. While not overly difficult, the atmosphere wasn't great, and it wasn't very friendly. It felt more like an interrogation than a discussion about my experience and knowledge, likely because it became clear we had different expectations for the role.
