I applied through the website. The HR chat was about my background, the tech I know (React, JS/TS), and what salary I'm looking for. First, I had an online test with two coding problems about arrays and async JS. Then, a live coding session where I had to build a small component with pagination and API search, and talk about performance, state, and how I structure code. After that, I had a system design round where I designed an analytics dashboard with filters, caching, rate limiting, and virtual scrolling. They cared about how clear I was, the trade-offs I made, and if it could scale. The last round was with the hiring manager, where we talked about projects I've owned, how I'd deal with problems in production, and how I work with others. It was a pretty chill chat.

The interview process started with an initial phone screening. The HR was really sweet and understanding, as I had initially applied for a different role, but she proactively submitted my resume for a more suitable position. The interview was scheduled quickly and without any hassle. However, the interviewer was a bit late and seemed a little distracted. Despite that, they were quite nice and patient. I had prepared for a theoretical or conceptual part, but after a basic introduction, we directly moved to the coding round.

After getting a referral from a friend, I was contacted by HR a few weeks later. The interview process was okay, but honestly, I was a bit let down because it was different from what I'd heard about frontend interviews at Razorpay. The interviewer seemed genuinely interested in my responses and even complimented my knowledge, though I did miss a couple of tricky JavaScript questions. Then came the coding round, which involved medium-high difficulty JS problems and a medium Leetcode-style question. Despite claims that DSA isn't a focus, it seemed to be a factor. I solved the challenging questions, but the interviewer appeared to expect a very specific approach, which was frustrating as it felt like they had memorized a solution. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I think people who posted good reviews got really lucky, especially with how competitive the job market is now due to layoffs, leaving very little room for error.
