So Razorpay came to my campus for Backend Engineer Intern positions. It was pretty tough but I learned a lot. First, we had an Online Assessment with 3 DSA questions to do in 1.5 hours, really tested how fast I can solve problems. After that, I got into the DSA interview. They gave me two problems: LeetCode 665 – Non-decreasing Array and Largest Rectangle in Histogram. I managed to solve both and explained how I did it, plus any tricky parts and how to make it better. The interviewer was super nice and made it easy to talk about it. Then, I had a Hiring Manager round. We talked about my projects and what I've actually done. Also covered CS basics like OS and networks, and my whole BTech experience, like what I learned. It was a good chat, more like a conversation, focusing on if I really understood things and how they apply in the real world.

I had a 45-minute DSA round with a senior developer. After a quick intro, I coded on Google Docs a problem similar to LeetCode's Two Sum. I explained the brute force and then the optimized solution. The interview technically lasted an hour, but the interviewer was happy with my approach and gave me extra time. He asked how I'd rate Java for DSA. I was also called for a hiring manager round, but we were put on hold because there were no open positions then. They assured us priority once a role opened up.

It felt like a waste of time. I went through 4 rounds in total: 2 phone calls and then 2 in-person interviews. Honestly, one of the reviews is spot on – they seem more interested in rejecting candidates than hiring them. The whole process was unnecessarily long and the questions they asked weren't clear. I'd recommend avoiding their hiring process and looking for opportunities at other professional organizations.
