First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Raven Software.
Environment Artist
I had an interview with three leads from the studio in the hiring department. Unfortunately, they seemed to be having a rough day. They had me present my entire portfolio without asking any questions about it. They only asked me some generic interview questions. They didn't even know what position I was applying for and asked me about it midway through the interview. They ended the interview with half the scheduled time remaining.
- Tell me about a time you faced adversity and how you overcame it.
Sound Designer
So Raven's audio department is really looking for people who are talented and creative. They're gonna dig into your portfolio, and if they like what they hear, you've already gotten through the hardest part! After you send in your resume, the audio director will give you a call to see if you're still interested. Then, a recruiter will set up a video call through their Thrive program for a culture interview. They'll just ask some general questions to make sure you're a good fit, no right or wrong answers. After that, there's a quick phone call with the audio team to chat about your portfolio, past projects, and your experience. If all that goes well, they'll fly you out for an onsite interview with the audio team, which includes lunch. Oh, and you'll get a tour of Madison while you're there.
- What aspects of your portfolio could have been improved?
- Could you describe your implementation and scripting abilities?
- How well do you know the Call of Duty franchise?
QA Functional Tester
The interview was super professional and chill. The interviewers really knew their stuff about the role and what they were looking for. They were really good about explaining the expectations and responsibilities right from the start. They laid everything out so clearly, and they were really quick and on top of communication. I never once felt like I didn't know what was going on with my application or where I was in the interview process.
- Can you share your experience in the industry?
- What is your educational background?
- Describe how you would approach testing a software issue in a hypothetical situation.
Production Coordinator
I got referred for the job and then talked to a recruiter. They set up a Zoom call for me with one of the producers on the team. I ended up having three interviews in total, all on Zoom. The producers I met were really nice and seemed interested in me. They answered my questions at the end of each interview. The whole process felt pretty chill and they asked stuff that was relevant to the job.
- What kind of games do you play?
- Could you go over the experience on your resume?
- What makes you want to work in production?
