Rapid Interview Questions
& Process

Man, this interview process was so weird. It had a bunch of steps. First, I had a pretty standard call with the recruiter. Then, I spoke with the BDR manager, who seemed like a really nice guy. After that, I had to do a take-home assignment. The last step was another call with the BDR manager and the sales director. They took about 2-4 days to get back to me after each step. The recruiter's emails weren't even like 'Congrats!' but just short messages like, 'Do this assignment next.' Honestly, I wasn't surprised I didn't get the job after that, especially after the sales director really grilled me on why I wanted to be in sales, saying it wasn't good enough to just think I'd be good at it. Like, sorry I wasn't born wanting to do sales, jeez! The rejection email was super short, and they never gave me any feedback when I asked. Didn't really care that much, though.

The process started with a conversation with the hiring manager, which went really well and I was excited. The next stage was with a senior team member, but it was mediocre, and she mentioned she wanted to hire more females and wouldn't consider male candidates. Then, another meeting was supposed to happen with someone, but it never got scheduled because they were too busy. After that, I had a call with the CEO, who didn't show up on video and didn't mention it would be audio-only, which was awkward. The CEO's interview lasted less than 15 minutes, with three nonsensical questions. I then emailed HR with updates and never heard back. Despite being a startup in hyper-growth, they should respect candidates' time.

Had a great first interview with HR, then a second one with the hiring manager. It was a quick 30-minute chat. The hiring manager seemed really bored and uninterested, and didn't ask me anything until the very end. Then they made some weird comments about how New Yorkers stopped living during the pandemic, while Atlanta didn't, when I asked how they managed sales during the peak. It's kinda wild they're interviewing for a NY Salesperson role and seem to dislike NY. I also asked about training and was told there wasn't much. I looked up API Sales on job boards and got no results. Basically, I wanted to know about the onboarding and at least get an intro to the sales materials.

I met with the hiring manager first, then some other teams, and finally the CEO. The communication wasn't great, as others have noted. The CEO interview was really weird, especially since I'd already talked to like 8-10 people. I thought it was just a final check, but nope, it was a real interview and he was totally unprepared. He hadn't read my resume, LinkedIn, or anything. He kept his camera off the whole time, which was strange, so I turned mine off too. After that, I got an offer elsewhere and told the recruiter, but they ghosted me. I emailed the hiring manager, and they said they couldn't speed things up and I'd hear back soon. I never heard anything else after that.
