This was a 4-stage interview process, starting with a recruiter call, then a phone screen, followed by a technical screen and an onsite interview. The whole experience was a mix of engaging, challenging, and sometimes stressful, but overall productive and professional. It was informative and detailed, with some nerve-wracking moments. The process was thorough and fair.

HR reached out and set up the first interview, which was technical. Then, I had a meeting with the Client Manager, followed by some HR discussions. The whole process was pretty quick and went well. I had a good experience overall.

This interview process took a turn I didn't expect, involving things like auditing my taxes, which isn't their place. They didn't upfront tell me the contract terms. It felt like a bait-and-switch tactic. They presented an unfair contract just 48 hours before the start date (which was pushed back two months), basically saying take it or leave it, with no room for negotiation. I was really accommodating, cutting my hourly rate by 5% to allow for their fees, changed the start date three times to suit the client, and even offered to fly again right after returning from international travel. Some contract clauses shift their business risks onto the contractor, meaning I could work but not get paid. Other clauses strip away the protections of Canadian contractual and employment laws. There were more deceptive and bait-and-switch practices. I've worked with this staffing agency before, from 2010-2011 and again now in 2016, with no positive outcomes either time. I'm professionally certified in my field, hold two master's degrees, and have 18 years of experience, with 13 years as a contractor for both private and public organizations.
