Test Manager
I was approached about the Test Team Manager position. After an initial phone screen, I had a 2-hour interview with the current acting test manager. This discussion covered a broad spectrum, including QA knowledge, team mentoring and development, management principles, definitions, testing approaches, and software development philosophies. Following that, I interviewed with the company president for about an hour and a half. My third interview was with the Chief Product Officer, which was rescheduled due to a scheduling conflict. These later interviews concentrated on my management style, overall philosophy, and how well I would fit in personally.
- Can you explain the distinction between Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC)?
- Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using Agile versus Waterfall methodologies.
- What are the pros and cons of test automation and the tool sets used for it?
Support Specialist
This interview was with the Help Desk Manager and it was pretty straightforward. Mostly, the manager talked. He mainly wanted to know if you understand troubleshooting steps, documentation, and follow-through. He also really stressed how important it is to hire someone dependable. Work ethic was a big deal to him.
- Could you walk me through how you'd troubleshoot a situation where a user can't get into a web application?
- What are the steps for troubleshooting?
- How do you document issues?
Technical Support
I got an email asking for my availability for a phone interview. When the scheduled time came, the recruiter didn't call. I tried calling them and got voicemail. Then I emailed to reschedule. They said they had other calls and asked for new dates and times. I gave them several options, but they never replied. It was a really disorganized experience.

Document Management Assistant
So, I had a short 15-minute phone screening. During that call, they went over the hiring process in more detail. Basically, they do a screening first, and then based on that, they decide if they want to move forward to a phone interview.
- Can you tell me about your experience using Microsoft Excel?
- What about your experience with Microsoft Word?
