Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ramp.
Product Designer
Started with a phone screen asking general background and experience questions. Then I had a chat with the hiring manager about teamwork, how I design stuff, and thoughts on AI. Lastly, there was a design exercise, kind of like a whiteboard thing but more flexible.
- How would you approach the request to launch a Spotify Chrome Extension?
Product Designer
I was contacted by a recruiter about a role, and we had a phone screen. During the call, the recruiter seemed distracted, talking to people off-camera at times and not fully engaged. They said I'd get an update on next steps the following day, but I never heard back, even after I followed up. While I understand rejections happen, this complete ghosting is unusual, especially given my experience with various companies.
- What's your approach to balancing the need for perfection with the drive to make progress?
Product Designer
The interview process was smooth, quick, and well-organized. It started with a recruiter call to discuss my background and career goals. After that, I moved on to speak with the hiring manager. If I had gotten past that stage, the next step would have been a whiteboarding challenge, followed by a virtual onsite interview. Unfortunately, I was ultimately unsuccessful after the hiring manager interview. Despite not moving forward, the overall process was very efficient and managed professionally. The recruiter, Christian Chung, was notably friendly and supportive, making the stressful experience much more manageable.
- Can you describe your key strengths and the areas where you are looking to develop?
