First up was this weird video thing, gotta record myself answering three questions. They give you two minutes per question, and there's a countdown clock. You get two tries to get it done. Then you submit it. Pretty strange experience, not gonna lie. Not sure if no human contact is the first impression they want to give people.

The experience was impersonal. I didn't talk to the hiring team directly, even with a referral. Usually, for client-facing roles, the hiring team calls to talk about experience, skills, achievements, hypotheticals, and culture fit. Instead, I got an automated email to use a screening software. You turn on your camera and mic, then get asked three questions. You have 30 seconds to a minute to plan and one minute to record each answer, with one retake allowed. This makes it hard to show skills or achievements in detail. With no back-and-forth, the team has little context on my experience. I met all qualifications, which is a red flag. This might save time, but capable applicants could be missed. It's the worst hiring process I've seen, and I hope prerecorded screenings don't become standard.

It was a 5 round interview process that took 4 weeks. They were super efficient and didn't leave gaps between interviews. The steps were: recruiter chat, hiring manager chat, a presentation to 2 team members, an executive chat, and then a peer interview. Ramp does a good job telling you what they want and giving you time to prep. I liked it because it was fast and I met a bunch of people. Excited to join!
