First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at RAINN.
Clinical Manager
So there were 3 panels. First was with leaders I'd be working with and my boss. Second was a peer interview with the team I'd be on, including program managers. Last was with the people who'd report to me.
- How have you worked with others to foster leadership development within training initiatives?
- In what ways did your partnerships enhance the team's overall performance?
- Describe an instance where you collaborated with leaders to address a significant challenge affecting training operations.
Shift Manager
They do a Hirevue interview first. Then, if you pass that, they'll invite you to meet with the manager, PM, VP, or director of the team. Usually, one panel interview is all that's needed. Sometimes there's a final interview after that.

Support Specialist
RAINN uses HireVue for the initial interview stage, which is pretty low pressure. They give you unlimited time to prepare your audio or written response. I found it helpful for understanding the role better. The next and final stage is a panel interview with managers. As a woman of color and LGBTQIA+, this was the most comfortable interview process I've experienced, and I received a quick response on my application status. I actually applied twice; I didn't get the role the first time but reached out for feedback. The recruiters were happy to provide it, and I used that to improve and got the job on my second attempt.
- What motivates you to work on the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline?
- Could you detail your background in crisis intervention, including how you've utilized safety planning, brainstorming, and active listening techniques in past positions?
- Could you detail your background in crisis intervention, including how you've utilized safety planning, brainstorming, and active listening techniques in past positions?
Social Media Manager
The interview process involved an application, a screening, and then a panel interview where I also had to complete a sample social media posts task. It was a really smooth process, and I appreciated the RAINN talent and acquisition team for making it that way. I enjoyed meeting the team during the panel interview.
- What motivated you to apply to RAINN and for this specific social media role?
- Can you describe a situation where you had to manage competing priorities and stay organized?
- Given the sensitive nature of RAINN's work, what measures do you take to create social media content and engagement that is inclusive, accessible, and intersectional for the communities you serve?
