The interview process kicked off with a recruiter named Chris who was super upfront about what to expect next, even texting me directly, which felt a little unusual but okay nowadays. It was a three-round process. First was with Chris, then two more with directors and senior CSMs who asked some pretty standard questions. If you got past that, there was a two-part assignment: create an Account Plan for both customers who were leaving and those who weren't, and then put together a fake Quarterly Business Review (QBR) for a company struggling with onboarding. I got the assignment Friday evening and had until the next Friday to submit it. But on Tuesday, Chris messaged to see if I was done or needed more time, which was weird since I had a whole week. In the last interview, I felt good about how I did and thought my mock QBR was really strong, showing I could totally handle the job. They said I'd hear back by Friday, but when I didn't, I followed up and found out they weren't moving forward. Chris even asked if I had other offers, which usually means an offer is coming. I'd actually turned down other interviews because he made it sound so promising, so it was a big letdown. The pay range of $70K–$90K also didn't seem worth the tough process, especially since I was taking a pay cut. Lesson learned: don't blindly trust recruiters who overpromise. Keep applying elsewhere where you'll be more appreciated.

The first stage was pretty standard with the recruiter. The technical interview was straightforward, with some questions about Go and my daily tasks. I was told I'd hear back about the next steps, but instead, I got a generic rejection email. It felt a bit odd because a colleague went through the same process and got to do the coding challenge, while I, with more experience in the language, was dismissed. They could improve this, as it seems inconsistent. Plus, letting candidates do the challenge might lead to positive surprises.

So I had two rounds of interviews. The first was a phone call with the recruiter where I had to give an introduction about myself and discuss my past work. After that, they decided to set up a face-to-face interview.
