Optimization Analyst
After applying, I was contacted via email about 2 weeks later by the Optimization Coordinator to set up a timed Excel Optimization assignment. This was a cool project and a week after that, the Optimization Coordinator set up a phone interview. A week after that, I had an interview with Optimization team members at their San Francisco office. Half of the interview was about my background and experience, and the other half was an on-site Excel test simulating their daily job. I thought I was a great candidate but I didn't do well because I lacked knowledge of ad-tech marketing optimization metrics and couldn't conceptualize them in time. The team was great and patient, explaining everything in the Excel Test that I didn't know, and I learned a lot. If I had passed this round, there would have been one more interview with senior management.
- Which Excel function do you like the most and why?
Software Developer
This company seems to struggle with hiring good people, and I think the managers are the issue. The manager I spoke with asked me technical questions that weren't too tough for someone with my experience, but they seemed really set in their ways, which isn't ideal. A professional needs to be adaptable, recognizing that problems can often be solved in multiple ways. The manager even had the nerve to ask if I'd been fired from my previous job, which felt like a way to make me feel foolish for trusting them. Another worrying question was about conforming to their programming practices, which often suggests a company might have poor standards and has faced criticism for them before.
- Can you conform to our programming practices without question?
Ad Operations
First interview with the operations manager who asks questions like why do you want to join us, do you think you have the skills for ad ops, what's your image of this job, have you used tools before, do you have questions, do you know what we sell? Then a practical case with the ad ops team to get to know each other better. An interview with the sales manager who tries to understand your motivations and a final interview with the MD France who might ask an 8x8 type question during the interview.
- What will you bring to RadiumOne?
- What marketing strategy would you adopt in specific cases?
Sales Planner
I had two 3-hour interview sessions where I met with someone from each department. It was mostly chill and pretty informal. Some employees dropped F-bombs a few times, which I didn't like. The recruiting coordinator set up my room and printed my resume copies. During the second interview, she left another candidate's resume stack for me, which was a bit of an awkward mistake. Even after spending hours on phone and in-person interviews, taking time off my current job, I never got a follow-up email saying they chose someone else. Seriously, don't bother.
