First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Radisson Hotels Americas.
HR Coordinator
First, there was an online and group interview, which was a different experience, a bit awkward, but positive once we could introduce ourselves and highlight the skills the interview team asked for. The next interview was in person and very positive, leading to a job offer.
- Were you available to work outside of normal hours?
- Did you have an owner's mindset to take on responsibilities?
Marketing Manager
The interview process kicked off with a screening phone call, then moved to a panel interview, and concluded with a one-on-one coffee chat with the manager. The HR recruiter was super helpful, even reaching out after hours with updates, which was great. I felt really good about the role and the team after the whole thing and got an offer. We negotiated, I got the offer letter, and was about to hand in my notice. But then, after I mentioned a planned summer vacation and asked about the vacation policy (use it or lose it), they rescinded the offer. To make matters worse, they posted the job again before even telling me they were backing out! I asked to speak with the manager for just five minutes to understand why, but she refused. It felt really unprofessional; she didn't even tell me herself, just hid behind HR. The HR recruiter mentioned she'd never seen anything like it, with most people taking summer vacations or having big events like weddings. Thankfully, I hadn't quit my job yet! Honestly, I suspect they just decided they didn't want to pay what we agreed on and found someone cheaper, or maybe the manager is just incompetent. If she can change her mind that quickly, it's probably for the best. I was really into the role, but this left a terrible impression. Also, about the office setup at the Minnetonka location – you can totally tell the company's been bought twice by Chinese firms recently. The workspace is all Chinese style: no assigned desks, chairs back-to-back, zero privacy with no partitions, and like 50 desks crammed into one area.
- Do you have experience with phone communication across different time zones?
- Can you describe how you manage interactions with challenging colleagues?
- Tell me about your experience using printers.
Service Design Manager
I scheduled an interview via email, but the recruiter missed it. They didn't call or email, so I had to reach out to the corporate office for help. About a week and a half later, a rescheduled phone interview happened, and it went really well. They said I'd hear back about two more interview steps within a week. I sent my thank you email, got an out-of-office reply, and then just waited. Exactly a week later, I got a generic denial email with no extra info. This was for a job at their corporate HQ, and I thought the process was pretty slow and uninformative. Since I didn't get any more contact, I feel like I wasn't given a fair shot because the first interview was missed.
- Would you be able to travel 10-15% to Omaha, on top of working out of the Minnetonka office?
IT Analyst
The interview process started with an initial email and then a phone interview, which seemed to be a recurring theme where confirmation of times was delayed. The onsite interview was at a nice office, but there was no one to greet me, and someone just passing by helped. The interview started late, and one interviewer didn't show up, so an unprepared person replaced them. I ended up leading the interview because they didn't have many questions for me. I left unsure about how it went. Later that week, they wanted a status update call, and after confirming the time, they said they were impressed and likely to offer a position on Monday, even sending benefits info. However, the interviewer who missed the onsite still wanted to speak with me. Monday and Tuesday passed with no contact. After emailing the recruiter, they responded the next day saying there were changes and assured me a call would happen the next day, which it didn't. A final attempt to reach the recruiter yielded no response, and eventually, an email stated the position was closed.
