Behavioral Technical Presentation

It began with a really enthusiastic HR person who went over the company's specifics with me. Things like the financials, what's expected of me in the role, and the job description itself. Then there were some questions about how I'd handle certain situations, plus what my pet peeves are, and what I look for when I first walk into a store. The HR person did most of the talking, saying it's to "pre-answer" any questions I might have.

Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

I used Linkedin.com to find HR people for Radioshack. The interviews started with standard interviews and a personality test to match my skills to the job. Then, I was flown to Fort Worth, TX, for an interview with the Area VP. It was a short interview with very few questions. I asked about the company's mission statement, and he said they didn't have one or believe in one. That's when I knew it might be a bad idea. The executives talked a lot about their accomplishments or people they hired who got promoted. But they actually manage by fear and intimidation. I asked if I would have any autonomy in running the district, and they coldly said "NO!". It seems like a bad company to work for.

Behavioral Other

To get promoted to manager, I had to be in good standing. I also needed an average sales history of $75/hour from the previous month. I had to fill out an application and submit my resume as if I were a new hire, even though I was the Assistant Manager at the time. Normally, they don't promote you to Manager in the same store you're Assistant Manager of, but my store is in a remote area, and no other Manager wanted the commute.
