First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Radiological Society of North America.
Associate Director
I spoke with a recruiter in early June, and then I had a second interview with the hiring manager in late July. They asked me to come into their office for the interview instead of doing it over Zoom, which I thought was a bit strange. They really emphasized that they were back in the office and that employees were happy about it, even though the office seemed pretty empty. The interview itself was pretty standard. I met with the hiring manager and their supervisor. They seemed really concerned about the turnover they've been having. It's now October, and I still haven't heard back from them, and they've reposted the position. I guess I didn't get the job.
- Can you describe your experience with different systems?
Product Manager
I'm here to agree with and validate the previous Product Manager interview review. Just a note: it's unethical and illegal to require projects/case studies during the interview process. It's a big red flag when companies do this. At best, they don't know how to interview well, and at worst, they're exploiting job seekers for free work. The hiring manager was super rushed during our interview and didn't bother with any small talk. She just fired off questions, like the previous reviewer mentioned, and it felt like she was trying to find a reason to reject me. It seemed like she wanted someone with tons of experience in areas that aren't typical for a Product Manager, like finance. I was actually glad I didn't move forward because I wasn't interested in working for this company after that experience.
- Can you tell me about your experience launching a product from start to finish?
- Were you the one who decided on the pricing for your products?
Editor
First, there was an HR screening to check my skills. Then, a 30-minute chat with two people from publications for a deeper dive. After that, I had an editing test. Finally, a chat with some higher-ups in publications who were keen to talk.
- What made you interested in this job?
- Tell me about your writing and editing background.
- What are your key strengths for this role?
Director
I initially applied in March and went through a phone screening with HR. Then, I was told to wait a few weeks for an interview with the Deputy Executive Director because of COVID19. Unfortunately, the Deputy Executive Director cancelled this interview less than 2 hours before it was supposed to happen and didn't provide an update for another 2 weeks. Their final word was that they were moving forward with someone else. There was no apology for the inconvenience, the delay, or the lack of consideration for my time.
- Tell me about your past work experiences.
- Can you describe how you handle team dynamics?
