First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Rad Power Bikes.
Senior Software Engineer
Started with a friendly HR call, covering my resume, tech experience, and company info. They laid out the hiring process: HR chat, a 45-min chat with two engineers, then a 45-min with the engineering manager, and finally a 45-min with a UI engineer. I think I messed up the tech interview because I wasn't ready for it. Basically, this company is a startup engineering-wise, and those two engineers were the only ones there. Their questions were about setting things up like versioning, testing, and system design. I'm more used to established companies with project planning, client interaction via PMs and Scrum Masters, which they didn't seem to have yet. Everyone was nice, but it just wasn't a fit. I'm at a point where I need a solid team around me, so a startup might not be my thing. Got a rejection email a few days later, which I think bummed out the HR person since we had a good chat.
- Can you talk about versioning, testing, and validation?
- Describe the end-to-end process of product development and delivery.
- For system design, how would you design a board with a radio?
Software Engineer
Had a phone call with the recruiter, then a technical assessment through Karat, and was supposed to meet the dev team(?). I only made it to the technical assessment though, everything before that was easy. The recruiter responded fast and usually got back to me the next week.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- How do you align with our RADICAL views?
- What are you looking for in your next role?
Software Engineer
I interviewed for a Software Engineer role. It was multiple rounds long, with coding challenges, technical discussions, and some behavioral questions. They wanted to see how I solve problems and communicate. Most questions were about React and its hooks.
- Could you implement the Tic-Tac-Toe game?
- Can you explain useRef in detail?
- Can you explain other React hooks in detail?
