First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Rackspace Technology.
Sales Representative
Applied online and got a questionnaire from HR a few weeks later. After sending it back and waiting a week, I got a phone interview with the hiring manager, which went well. Then, an onsite interview was scheduled. I prepared a lot, but it felt like a waste of time. The onsite involved 3 team sessions, each 30 mins to 1 hour, with 2 people per session. The first group was good, sharing company/role info. The second group, a rep and manager, seemed to try and talk me out of the job, repeatedly asking why I wanted to leave. The third group was more fun, asking good behavioral questions to check if I was a good fit. They use a grading system, and you need a high score. It felt like a lottery. One manager asked me to do 10 hours of online training and send my score, which felt like a waste. I followed up with HR a week later and was told the position was filled. Overall, it was below average, and not the right company for me. The interviews were good practice, though. The company seems disorganized, with pay below industry average and travel requirements.

- Could you introduce yourself?
Sales
I applied online for the Sales position and after a few days received a link to complete a recorded interview via an app. I prepared for this recorded interview as I would for a live one and submitted my responses. Unfortunately, two days later I got an email saying they were moving forward with more qualified candidates. I thought I'd at least get a conversation, especially with a friend's recommendation and my background in enterprise software sales, but they didn't move forward with me after the recorded interview.
- How did you get ready for this interview?
- Can you sell Rackspace to me, pretending I'm a company executive?
- Tell me about a time you dealt with a challenging customer and managed to make a sale.
Sales Representative
The interview process was straightforward and efficient. They clearly set expectations and scheduled meetings with enough time. It was a very positive experience from speaking with the recruiter all the way to getting the offer. My only suggestion would be to have better expectations on timing for the final offer letter.
- In what areas can my skills best contribute to the company's growth?
