The job description was for Senior Devops Engineer, but during the 2nd interview, they mentioned it was for an Architect role. This was fine with me as I have experience in both. The process included an initial screening call, followed by an in-depth technical interview with two team members and a manager. The third round was a technical interview with two managers and a member from another team, focusing on high-level and strategic questions. They asked about AWS functionalities and Terraform, but I felt the feedback was dishonest. For instance, after I explained using AWS Organization and the option of Landing Zone or Control Tower for managing multiple AWS accounts, they claimed I lacked experience in Control Tower, which is untrue given my background at Amazon and extensive experience managing AWS environments.

First I applied through their online portal. A couple of days later, the HR department reached out. I had a call with them to discuss potential opportunities. The first round was an online technical test covering basic Linux, programming, and configuration management. The second round was a Skype interview with two technical leads, focusing on general knowledge of configuration management and networks. The third round involved a live technical test via Skype, testing Git and programming skills. The fourth round was an on-site, half-day session with team members, team leads, and management, which also included technical tests.

They sent me a take-home assignment that involved a GCP K8s task. They set up a GCP project specifically for me with a Gmail account, but their response time was very slow. Initially, I couldn't access the project due to permission issues, which seemed like they didn't prepare it well. I emailed them and still haven't heard back. After a week of no response, I decided to proceed with the assignment using my own GCP project, but they didn't acknowledge my work and provided no feedback. The last communication was from my end in Dec 2021, and I've received no feedback since. I'm fed up with Rackspace; they didn't respect the interviewers' feedback or responses, especially since the assignment took about 8 hours of work, and they couldn't spare 5 minutes to reply or even resolve the GCP project access issue. It's a horrible experience, especially when you invest so much time in a problem and don't get a response.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Could you create a Kubernetes cluster with all necessary components and then deploy an Nginx pod using a specified image?
  • Ensure the Nginx pod is configured to reference a GCP bucket, so that any modifications within that bucket are reflected on the Nginx web page.
  • Confirm that the entire setup is implemented using Terraform and is contained within the GCP project they will provide.
