Product Designer
Had 3 phone screens first with HR, a PM, and the hiring manager. After that, I had an in-person interview which included a portfolio review, a design exercise, a heuristic evaluation, and some standard interviews. I met with 5 people total during the in-person part.
- Regarding your portfolio, could you elaborate on your specific contributions to this project?
- Can you describe how you approached and managed this particular aspect of the project?
- What is your approach when you find yourself in a disagreement with a Product Manager, Design Manager, or an engineering team member?

Best interview experience, hands down. The HR was super nice and walked me through the whole process, which lasted 4 weeks. I started by answering some general questions in a phone call with HR. Got feedback the next day and proceeded to a video interview with the director of product design. I walked through my portfolio and answered some high-level design questions. After the interview with the director, I was given the option to do a video or onsite interview with the design team, which is an opportunity for them to take a closer look at my previous work and ask questions. I chose to take a video interview and received feedback soon. The final step before the onsite interview was a phone call interview with one of the PMs to talk about the design flow of a specific feature to evaluate my design thinking. Still received feedback quickly and got invited to the SF headquarter for the onsite interview. HR offered me options to avoid red-eye flights and asked if I would like to stay longer in SF to explore the city - super sweet. The instructions for the onsite interview were clear and helpful, and they picked a nice boutique hotel within a 7-minute walking distance from the office. The onsite interview lasted 4 hours, including a lunch break with the director of engineering. A whiteboard challenge with one of the PMs, a product critique with one of the product designers, some discussion about the role with the director of product design, and some high-level review of the product with the VP. Everyone was nice, smart, and insightful. The whole process was well-arranged, smooth, and pleasant.
- Can you show me an app that you use most often, and tell me about it?
- Could you walk me through your portfolio and answer some high-level questions about design?
- Let's discuss the design flow for a specific feature to evaluate your design thinking.

Quizlet was one of the best companies I recruited with for an internship. The hiring manager for the product design internship was very transparent about the process and timeline for the beginning, and made expectations really clear which I loved. She also gave me feedback before my final interview which I thought was extremely thoughtful. I ended up getting the offer and have decided to take it, and I'm so excited!!
- Have you ever worked in a cross-functional team before?
