Truck Driver
Had two interviews where we talked about my experience, the job specifics, and what the company expects from its drivers. There was some staff turnover, but it wasn't too bad compared to other places. The trucks are nice and the training provided was excellent. They also checked my background, certifications, and did a drug screening. It was a very smooth process.
- How many years have you been driving trucks?
- Can you elaborate on your truck driving experience?
Mechanical Engineer
The interview process started with a recruiter screen, followed by a meeting with the hiring manager and one employee. A third round was planned on-site with several department members. However, their recruitment/HR team was extremely slow to respond, taking a week or more to reply to emails, often only after I reminded them. I interacted with two different HR people who didn't seem to communicate with each other, making it feel like I had to restart the process each time. Scheduling interviews was tough because of the slow responses. The interviews with the hiring manager and employees went really well; about 20 minutes into a 1-hour interview, they said I was exactly what they were looking for and wanted me to come in for a larger group interview. My last interaction was with an HR person who appeared to be overloaded and kept losing my emails, apologizing for it. After three tries to set up the on-site interview, I stopped following up.
- Can you tell me about your academic and career history?
Sales Representative
I interviewed with this company the first time for about an hour with the current bulk sales rep, and another member of management. Two weeks went by with no communication from them despite me leaving voicemails. Then out of the blue they requested a second interview. This one was also about an hour with the current rep, and the regional manager from Minnesota. I felt like the interview went well. Then I never heard again. I left voicemails with every employee I interviewed with. It was hugely unprofessional trying to deal with them. They wouldn't return calls or give any status updates on the position. To add insult to injury the job is still posted!!!
- Do you have product knowledge related to spec mix products?
Human Resources Business Partner
This whole process was a mess. The first HRBP I talked to was great, but then things went south in the next round. I had an interview with two other HR people who just droned on about internet problems, other candidates, and basically bantered with each other. It was super negative. They asked things like, "What crushes your soul?" and "I'm not clear on why you even want this job." It felt like they'd already decided who they wanted before we even started talking. They also said union experience wasn't a big deal, but then it ended up being the main thing they focused on. They have this rigid in-office policy which is tough if you're at The Concourse. All I heard was how amazing the HR leader and the team supposedly were, but honestly, they came across as really negative and unprofessional. I really hope the leader addresses this and provides some training for the interviewers.
- What crushes your soul? What do you hate?
