First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Quigley-Simpson.
Investment
The process was pretty simple. I had three interviews, and they really dug into whether I'd be a good fit for the company. First, I talked to HR, then my direct manager, and finally the director of the department.
- How do you feel about work-life balance?
Associate Director
I applied online and submitted a full package with my CV and work portfolio. Then I was asked to answer some questions, which I could answer just by looking at my CV and experience. I sent my answers back, and after two weeks with no updates, I followed up multiple times without any response. The position was then reposted everywhere. It was a huge waste of time.
- Tell me about your management experience.
Traffic Manager
The interview process was really smooth, starting with a chat with my potential Supervisor/Director and then moving on to meeting the Vice President of the department. Everything was done online via Teams. They had a list of questions, but it felt pretty relaxed and conversational, like they were also trying to get to know me and what I'm looking for in this field.
- Could you tell me about some of the difficulties you encountered in your past roles?
Copywriter
A recruiter reached out about a copywriter role for a branded travel card. While the initial contact was promising, the interview with the executive creative director was a negative experience. The director, who seems to have some industry recognition, was very toxic during the interview, frequently interrupting to dismiss my explanations of my experience and highlighting perceived gaps. The interview felt like a grilling session focused on whether I already possessed all the required skills for the job, despite my explanations about what drew me to the position. They extended an offer with an immediate start date within an hour, which felt like a major red flag. Following my feedback about the director's behavior, I received numerous follow-up attempts to reconsider, with offers to meet again to see if the interview was just an 'off day.' This suggests a potential company-wide issue, indicated by their immediate desperation and other reviews. Ultimately, agencies and managers with this kind of attitude are not worth the toll on your time and mental well-being. Keep searching for a better opportunity!
- Could you walk me through your background and explain your interest in this position?
- Can you share your experience collaborating with a creative director?
- What is a personal weakness you've recognized in yourself?
