& Process

There are 3 rounds in the interview process. However, if you're a 2L summer intern, you get to skip the first round. The second round is a panel interview with a bureau chief and a junior ADA. They'll hit you with one law-related hypothetical question, so make sure you're up-to-date on NY crim pro, and then they'll ask one ethical hypo. The third round is the executive round with the two executives. For this round, you'll need to prep an opening statement. It should be memorized and they'll record it. They'll then ask about how you went about making the opening statement – like, did you get help, what were the strong and weak points of the case, why'd you pick certain facts to include or leave out, etc. They also throw in some criminal and ethical hypos during this round.

The interview process had three rounds. The first was on Zoom. The second involved two people. The third and final round was with one person, who was an attorney, and the legal hiring head. This last interview lasted an hour and included giving an opening statement.

after the resume screening, there's an initial phone call, then one or more interviews that could be virtual or in-person, followed by some assessments or tasks, then reference checks, and finally the offer is made. This is to see if you're a good fit, and if you have the right skills and experience.

I had an interview on campus with an experienced attorney. They asked me some basic questions about what I did in my internships, why I chose to pursue being a district attorney instead of a criminal defense attorney, and my interest in criminal law. After that, I got to ask them questions about the office and what it's like to be a new ADA. I got the vibe that the attorney wasn't super interested in me, though.
