Qubole Software Engineer Interview Questions

A fresh graduate asked me a simple find the pair problem in sorting array and I provided the answer. He then talked about binary search and I presented the solution. From his behavior, it was clear he was a novice. He rambled about some coding website and his usage. He didn't know how binary search worked and asked me to find an element in a non-sorted and decreasing order array. I told him he needs to improve his basics. HR later informed me the interview didn't go well. I suggest HR find qualified interviewers instead of relying on inexperienced individuals.

My interview experience with Qubole was terrible. After two Skype rounds and four on-site rounds on May 20th, I was told I'd have a decision within a week. It took three months and constant follow-ups to get a decision. After the interviews, they asked for references two weeks later, which I found odd since it was before an offer. The reference check took another 2-3 weeks with no updates from Qubole. I had to reach out for an update, and they said they'd send an offer within a week. A month had passed by then. Two days before the supposed offer date, HR said they were putting my profile on hold for another 15 days due to strategic changes. I was frustrated and asked for a clear yes or no, but HR assured me they were still considering me. Another month passed with no word, and I had to contact them again. The HR apologized, saying she was on vacation and that they were moving forward. I was hopeful, but then heard nothing for another week. I emailed for an update and finally received a reply stating they were confused and not moving forward with my profile after three months without a reason. A Senior HR then called, pretending to be unaware of the situation, and gave a different reason than the headcount issue previously mentioned, saying they found a better candidate. This whole experience was unprofessional, especially since the Senior HR didn't even know who I was. I've heard from others that they've had similar horrible experiences with Qubole HR, who are unprofessional and lack communication skills. I question the ability of both the HR and the Senior Engineering team for not reaching a decision after so many rounds and making immature choices. I was interested in Qubole because of their growth and work, but this experience has left a very bad impression.

The interview process is really clear. It's all about your technical skills, so make sure they match what you put on your resume. They ask about data structures and technical stuff related to your projects. All the interviewers were super skilled and you'll have great conversations. Learning about the company beforehand will definitely help in all the rounds. Big thanks to the HR team, they do an amazing job and support you throughout the whole process.
