It was a couple rounds and not technical. You'll be interviewing with people you'd work with, and they really understand the actuarial field, which is great. HR was super helpful and flexible with my unique circumstances. Make sure you have exams under your belt though!

I first chatted with a recruiter, Lori Sheets, who was really nice and considerate. We talked about Quartz generally and what I might expect in this role as a summary. She was super easy to talk to and encouraging. My next interview was with Carl and Elena on Zoom. We discussed the position more deeply and how my background and education would align with the duties and projects expected for this role. Both Carl and Elena were also very kind and considerate. They asked questions that needed a lot of examples, but they let me take my time to think if I needed to. They didn't make me feel rushed and shared info about themselves and their paths to Quartz.

The process started with a prescreening test sent via email. After completing the test, there was a phone interview. During the phone interview, the recruiter asked about my resume, my previous salary expectations, and the culture of organizations I've worked for previously. The recruiter focused on the vacant role rather than the organization or its benefits. A red flag was the recruiter asking about my payment history, which is banned in my state. I asked about the next steps, and the recruiter said he'd respond in three weeks. Four days after the interview, I received a rejection letter stating my resume was impressive, but they were moving forward with a more qualified candidate.

The recruiter for this position was unprofessional. They called me an hour earlier than my scheduled phone interview time. When I asked about benefits, I was told they couldn't provide an answer because they don't discuss benefits until you're the final candidate. The recruiter left a bad impression not only about them as a professional but the company in general.
