& Process

I had a short 15 minute phone call, then they sent over a project. After I finished the project, I was asked to come in and present it. They emailed the project to me late the day before a holiday and expected it done the day after. I wasn't given any tools and the instructions were unclear. I put a lot of time into it and got it back to them on time. The next week, HR emailed me with some grammatical errors, saying they were moving forward with other candidates. Given the tight timeline and lack of resources, I was annoyed they didn't even consider me for a second interview after all the work I put in. The whole thing felt very unprofessional.

The interview process was pretty straightforward. It started with a phone screener, followed by a project that needed to be presented during an in-person interview. The project itself was fairly manageable, although I felt the company might have been a bit demanding in terms of the scope and turnaround time required. I managed to complete what I believe was a strong presentation, but only after I had to reschedule the subsequent interview due to prior work commitments. A couple of things I didn't particularly care for: firstly, the initial phone interview was cancelled just two minutes before it was supposed to start. While we were able to reschedule, it was frustrating to have personal time blocked off only for the call to be cancelled unexpectedly. Secondly, the second interviewer, who turned out to be a CoFounder, came across as very cold during our session. He repeatedly interrupted me before I could fully answer his questions. He didn't seem engaged with my project until I steered the conversation towards it, and even then, while I was presenting, he was scrolling through my slides, making it difficult to follow my flow and requiring me to keep backtracking. It was just a rather unusual experience overall.

I put a lot of effort into the project and was told I would present it in the in-person interview. I even made a slide deck. The in-person interview with HR was okay, though they left the room a few times, which was stressful. Then the company president came in to hear my presentation. He either didn't know about it or didn't care, as he just made small talk about my resume, asked if I had questions, and sent me away. He was very difficult to talk to. I feel like I dodged a bullet.

I applied online. The process was standard, nothing too surprising. It involved a 20-minute onsite interview, followed by a take-home assignment, and I received an offer within a week. This was for a Marketing intern role at Quantum Networks.
