First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Quantexa.
Software Engineer
The interview process involved three main stages. First, there was an initial virtual interview that delved into my background, along with some technical and behavioural questions. After that, I had a take-home assignment to complete. The final stage was an on-site interview, which lasted about two hours. This session included a discussion about the take-home assignment, a presentation I gave, technical questions, and system design discussions. The interviewers were really friendly and easy to talk to, making it feel more like a chat than a stressful test. I felt pretty relaxed the whole time. Big thanks to Jonathan, the Talent Partner, for being super helpful and quick to answer any questions I had.
- Can you explain referential transparency in the context of IO?
Software Engineer
The interview process was very long and not well communicated. I was given a take-home assignment using a technology I wasn't familiar with. I spent a week on it, completing all the bonus questions and tests. After submitting it, I was informed that the first actual interview stage was an 'experience deep dive chat.' I was rejected because they didn't believe my claim that I've never missed a deadline. It's disrespectful to ask candidates to spend so much time on a pre-screening assignment, especially without upfront information.
- Can you share an instance where you failed to meet a deadline?
Software Engineer
The interview process involved a 1-hour technical interview with the Tech Lead, covering topics from my CV and the job description. Next, there was a take-home coding assignment, which I found more valuable than live coding. The final round was a 2-hour session with two Principal Engineers, including a code review, technical questions, a design exercise, and a presentation. Although the 2-hour duration seemed daunting, the tasks were manageable, and the engineers were supportive. I'd rate the overall difficulty as high due to the demands of the process rather than the question complexity. The recruiter, Jonathan, was excellent, assisting with assignment deadlines, scheduling the final interview, providing same-day feedback, and facilitating the offer.
