HR emailed to set up a phone call, which went well. They mentioned a possible on-site visit soon and complimented my background, noting my programming skills. They also brought up a higher-level position, and I recalled having a contact there. A few days later, after a personal phone call with a friend, I got a rejection email saying I wasn't selected, despite many applicants. The job is still posted online. It seems they monitored my phone and internet activity before the call, which is discriminatory based on a private call. They sent a fake rejection notice because they haven't found anyone. It's not about competence; they just don't have a candidate. If they're going to lie, they should at least be smarter about the rejection story. They're easy to figure out. They should look up EOE policies for the US, or translate them if English is hard. They need to follow US rules before advertising jobs. There's no EOE statement on their website. Future candidates: don't discuss personal info on your cell phone, or Quanergy will reject you based on discrimination. If they can't follow basic ethics laws, their internal practices are likely corrupt. Better to avoid them.

Behavioral Technical

I had a phone screen and then was invited to the onsite. It was a bit chaotic as they couldn't figure out who exactly will be interviewing me. But that was okay, I ended being interviewed by about five different people. Standard interview process with some behavioral questions, some technical questions and questions about my experiences. After the interview I received no updates. I followed up with the hiring manager but he just ignored me. I would've understand if they just told me I wasn't a good cultural fit or they found someone better, but apparently they think completely ghosting an applicant is acceptable. Very unprofessional to have me spend an entire afternoon interviewing with them and not even bother telling me a "no". Maybe the hiring manager got fired or something.

Behavioral Technical

Had a first phone screen with HR about the company and the role. The next day I had a technical interview, which I accommodated as I thought the process would be quick. I sent a thank you email and then waited. After a week of no response, I followed up with the recruiter, who said they were still doing first round interviews and the interviewer was out, with an update expected a week later. I never got an update, so I followed up again two weeks later to withdraw my application. The recruiter then stated that they realized they were looking for a different profile and were not moving forward at all. I felt it would have been better if the recruiter had proactively provided this update, and at that point, I suspected the company might not be the best fit for my career.

Coding System Design

So I got there and signed in, then met up with the person interviewing me. They started off asking me some coding questions, pretty standard whiteboard stuff. Then we shifted to more design-focused questions, and I thought we had a solid chat about different engineering problems.
