Data Scientist
I had an initial phone call with HR, and they said I was moving forward. But then they never got back to me to set up any more interviews, even though I tried reaching out a bunch.
- Can you describe your previous projects and experience?
- Please review your resume with me.
- Why are you interested in working for this company?
Data Scientist
The interview process starts with a phone screen they call an 'informal chat.' While it's mostly a getting-to-know-you session, they do ask some technical questions. The next part is an on-site interview where you have to fit a model to data in front of the interviewer. This was a fair interview. The data set was simple and the tasks were standard for a data scientist. The time limit made it tough, but it's a good test of modeling and coding skills. They aim to mimic a work setting with a simplified version of a real job task. Afterwards, there were follow-up questions to check your knowledge and experience depth. I met with the VP of Data Science, who was enthusiastic. The office was nice and they provided lunch. Everyone was friendly. I didn't get an offer because I didn't perform my best, but I got good feedback. Overall, the interview was fair. They know what they want, and you'll know if it's a good fit.
- Fit a model using the data provided.
Data Scientist
The interview process involved an initial HR call, followed by a take-home challenge, a phone screen, and finally an onsite interview. The recruiter was professional and the entire process was transparent. They provided benefits information and salary ranges early on, and the interview stages and challenges were clearly defined and fair in terms of time and expectations. They were understanding about rescheduling and valued my time. It was a positive experience.
- For the take-home challenge, they evaluated delivery time, solution rigor, and performance against a benchmark score.
- The onsite interview, lasting about 3 hours, required a presentation of the approach and results, followed by a Q&A session.
