Customer Support Specialist
The interview process felt a bit 'out of the box.' It started with a recruiter call, which was super casual, not what I'm used to. Then, a phone interview came with an Excel task that didn't seem to relate to the actual job, making me doubt my answers. The onsite interviews were a mixed bag: one team member was barely present due to another call, another was nice but couldn't really explain KPIs or daily tasks. The onboarding specialist was helpful, though. The hiring manager and I did a business exercise diagram instead of a formal interview, which also didn't really get to the core of the role. A VP joined late and gave me a thought experiment, which was also informal. They seem really proud of their complicated business plan and their complex industry, stressing it a lot. I think this approach might limit their talent pool, but they're sticking to it. They did respond quickly via email, but ultimately declined to offer. Honestly, even if they had offered, I probably would have passed because it wasn't a good fit for me.
- Could you create a business diagram that mirrors the one we've presented?
Customer Support Specialist
It was a really conversational interview process. I spoke with the VP of Customer Success and two of the founders all in one day. Definitely come prepared with a lot of questions, and make sure you're a good cultural fit for the team!
- What is the approximate number of people currently on planes worldwide?
Customer Support Specialist
Found the role on a start-up website and applied. Had a phone screening with someone from operations. Next, I had an in-person interview at the Austin office with someone doing a similar job. The third interview was also in person, with an operations person and one of the co-founders. They really focused on how complex the product is. I'd recommend researching a lot and being ready to explain what the company does and who their customers are.
- Can you teach me something you find complex?
