I had experience as a senior Instrument Technician doing calibration work on all instrument devices and start-up of process equipment. This included things like compressors, pumps, separators, desalter, CRU units, heaters, Claus reaction furnaces, incinerators, Scot reactors, degassing sections, amine regeneration, and sour gas strippers. I also tested the functions of all types of instrument devices according to logic, using DCS & IPS (Honeywell c300 & system manager). I can explain my good knowledge of sulphur and DHT units. I also know how to read PEFS, PCN, IPF, and C&E RATS.

I interviewed for roles in QP's new LNG trading arm over the last 2 years. I had at least 5 interviews across 3 roles with differing seniorities. Initially, I applied for a team lead role requiring 25 years of experience, but I didn't have enough years. A year later, I was contacted by a headhunter for a Sr. Risk Manager role. There were 2 interviews: a general one and a technical one with risk-related questions. I received a verbal offer, but the hiring manager resigned, and my position was put on hold. Six months ago, another headhunter reached out for a risk team leader role, which seemed like a perfect fit. I had an interview with two consultants, which turned technical, focusing on hedging and pricing LNG in Singapore without price transparency. My answers weren't satisfactory. Then, they offered me another Sr. Risk Manager role. I had another technical interview, mostly with a consultant, which I thought went well. It's been over a month, and despite following up, I've heard nothing. Both roles were recently reposted on QP's job platform, suggesting they haven't found suitable candidates. My experience makes me question QP's Trading arm's processes, especially the lack of communication and feedback, which I consider unprofessional.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Can you elaborate on risk metrics like VaR, option risks, and product control?
  • Discuss how you would hedge and price transactions in a very illiquid market.

I got contacted by a really professional HR company back in 2016. QP was hiring for a building/office project. The agency did a good job, but dealing directly with QP after that was a total mess. My interview was set for 5:30 AM London time. It was a phone call with two interviewers who seemed a bit odd and Eastern. They asked some weird questions, even making fun of my career, which I didn't get. I ended up going to work feeling tired and regretting wanting to join them.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • I was asked some strange questions about lifts, and I'm still not sure what they were asking. It felt like the questions were incomplete.
  • Basically, I was asked about pumps and what actions are taken in the event of a fire.

I had a really good time interviewing with the company. The process was structured, with three interviews and a technical assessment. Everything was professional and respectful. Each step seemed planned to check technical skills and if I would fit in. Communication was good and timely, making things easy. The people I talked to were professional, friendly, and easy to talk to. It was a great experience, and I'm happy to join this company.

  • How would you contribute to achieving the company's business objectives?
