The interview process started off great. The recruiter and engineering manager were transparent and forthcoming about the process and looked forward to next steps with me meeting the team in-person for the final stage of the interview process. Unfortunately, this is where communication stopped. I didn't hear back and received no email about rejection, next steps, etc... I followed up with the recruiter asking about my status and he was shocked I didn't receive the email invitation about next hiring steps. I said this was no problem and understood that these things happen. The recruiter said if it would be ok for them to follow-up with text because of the email problems and I said yes. Then I was ghosted.

This interview process was absolutely pathetic. The interviewer seemed to want to show off his knowledge and would giggle when my answers weren't what he expected. He even raised his voice, almost shouting, asking if that's what I was asking. I don't mind rejection if you feel I'm not a good fit; that's your choice. But the way you conduct the interview says a lot about you. I saw on LinkedIn that this interviewer has 15 years of experience, and he still acted like he needed to prove to me that he knows way more than I do. He has at least three times my experience, yet it felt like a test. My suggestion for the organization is to remind interviewers to be polite. This is an interview, not a college viva. Focus on what candidates know, not just what they don't.

So the first thing was a phone call with two devs and a manager, lasted about 40 mins. They mainly asked about my resume and past stuff, pretty high level. Then, later that day, the recruiter called to set up an on-site interview for a few days later. It was about two and a half hours long and had three parts, each around 45 mins. The first part was with a dev who asked about my resume and then had me do a basic coding quiz on CoderPad - like five functions to fill in, took maybe 20 mins. The other two parts were with a mix of devs and managers, asking about my resume, experience, and personality. After the last bit, one of them showed me around the office. The recruiter called me back the same day and said I'd know in 24-48 hours. They did get back to me in that time with a written offer. The whole thing took just over a week from the first call to getting the offer.
