Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Putnam.
Associate Consultant Intern
The first interview involved a 15-minute behavioral chat and a 30-minute case study about a PE firm deciding between two life science companies. The final round had a qual case, a quant case (both started with a 15-minute behavioral segment), and a behavioral interview with a principal, followed by a Q&A with a graduate. It was an interesting process meeting smart, driven people. Just make sure to give specific examples of your past experience in the sector if you have it, as it seems they look for this even in interns. The feedback after the 5 hours of interviews was pretty general and not very useful.

Consulting Associate
The interview process started with a 45-minute first round that included a short behavioral component and a case study. The second round, which was also 45 minutes, focused on a quantitative case, followed by another 45-minute qualitative case. There was also a 30-minute Q&A session with a past summer intern, and a final 45-minute behavioral interview. All case interviews were led by the interviewer, and the behavioral interviews were quite conversational, discussing points from my resume.
