It started with a phone chat for about 30-45 minutes with an Associate where we talked about my background and why I'm interested in consulting, especially in the life science field and with Putnam. They also threw in a market sizing case and some other questions for about 15-20 minutes. Then, I had an all-day on-site thing, lasting about 5.5-6 hours. It was made up of 5 interviews, each around 45 minutes, plus a lunch that went for over an hour. The first three interviews were case-based; I got one market sizing problem and two cases focused on life science strategy. Lunch was pretty relaxed, at a restaurant with two Analysts, mostly just chatting and getting to know each other. The last two interviews were with Partners. Just a heads up, the order and how much time people get to talk might change if scheduling gets messy. HR was pretty quick to get back to me after each stage to let me know if I was moving on. Figuring out dates can be a bit of a drag and makes the time between rounds pretty long.

I first applied through my university's job site and then got an on-campus interview. It was about 30 minutes, mostly behavioral questions, focusing on why I wanted to get into consulting with my biology degree and asking about times I faced team problems and how I fixed them. They also threw in a pretty simple market sizing question at the end, asking to guess the US sales of Nicorette in January for about 10 minutes. About a week later, I was invited for a second, on-site interview. This consisted of three interviews: one with two analysts, one with a consultant, and the final one with a partner. Everyone was really nice and friendly, and I even had lunch with a couple of analysts who were super helpful answering my questions.

- I was really surprised not to be asked a straightforward business case question, especially in the second round, considering I know others who were given two cases.
- I did get a case question, but it didn't involve any numbers.

It was a 45-minute phone chat with someone who's currently an Analyst or Associate. About 20 minutes was behavioral, then 20 minutes on a market sizing case, and then I got to ask my questions. The market sizing case was to figure out how many Band-aids were sold in the US back in 2010.
