My friend who works at Purple recommended it so I reached out to them and got a call from James in recruitment. We had a chill chat where I talked about my experience and career goals, and what I could bring to Purple. James gave me the lowdown on Purple, their current needs, and benefits. It was super informal, just figuring out if it was a good fit. I got an interview invite the next day. The interview itself felt similar to the first chat, more of an open conversation with the Head of Technology and Lead Developer. We discussed my technical skills, leadership, and mentoring abilities. After that, I got a technical programming test.

Behavioral Technical

It was a two-stage interview process. First, an interview with HR, and then another with the Sales Director and the Sales Operations and Customer Support Manager. It was pretty laid-back, mostly about getting to know you and how you'd fit in. They didn't ask many competency questions, it was more of a back-and-forth where you could ask pretty much anything about the role and company. They liked it if you did some research and found some less obvious company facts. Show interest and they'll be interested too. Really enjoyed both interviews, they mostly focused on my CV and how I'd do in sales, but no sales pitches or role-playing.

It started with an email from them and I did everything over the phone or Webex. First, I had a phone chat with the HR recruiter, then another phone chat with the HR Manager. After that, a Webex chat with my future manager about the role details, and then an in-person meeting at the Madrid offices with my future colleagues. Lastly, I had to complete some online tests and a final, very important phone call with the CEO.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The hiring process is quite thorough. It includes a phone chat, three different tests (personality, intelligence, and skills), and two in-person interviews. The face-to-face interviews are pretty chill, though the second one involved a 30-minute presentation that needed to be prepared and sent over beforehand. The tests are tough, but they're meant to see if you'd be a good fit for the company's vibe.
