First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pure Barre.
Teacher
First, I had a short meet up with the Owner and Lead Teacher where we talked about my experience, what I want to do, and my hobbies. Then, I was given a short part of a class to memorize, and I had to teach it to them a few days later. After that, I actually taught the short part of the class to the owner and lead teacher. Finally, I was approved to go to Training.
- How long have you been a barre member or participant?
- Can you share your background in workouts, athletics, or dance, and your passion for it?
- What's your wellness journey been like?
Instructor
You'll do an audition where you'll need to wear a mic if you have one and recite the first 90 seconds of the class "Welcome to PB my name is X. Let's get started ...". The studio owner, manager, or trainer will be there watching and taking notes, or maybe even join in while you lead a short part of the class. It can be pretty nerve-wracking, but showing confidence, especially with the mic, really helps, so just go for it!
- Would you be open to traveling for training purposes?
Instructor
My interview process was two-part. Initially, I had an in-person interview at my home studio. It was fairly casual, mainly for the manager to gauge my personality and see if I'd be a good fit for the team. Then, I was called back at a different time to present a 2-minute choreography routine to senior team members. They mentioned it was primarily to assess musicality and confidence when teaching unfamiliar people. Following that, I had another interview with the franchise president, which was much more formal. She explained the terms of the contracted instructor role. I received a job offer via email within a week.
- Questions are pretty studio specific, so your results may vary.
