So, the interview process had 2 parts, and it was all done online. First, there was a standard interview with the hiring committee, lasted about 30 minutes. Then, the second interview, also with the hiring committee, had more standard questions, plus I had to give a presentation, and then wrap it up with a one-on-one with the hiring manager.

The interview process felt like a box-ticking exercise to appear inclusive, with no real intent to hire. The faculty seemed against me, and the Communications department rushed through my interview. They seemed to just want to say they interviewed a Black candidate. I had to deal with technical issues that messed up my presentation without any help from the chair, who actually rushed me and wouldn't assist. It was a really racist experience.

I first had a 15 to 30 min phone interview with the interview panel. After about a month or so, I was invited to an onsite-interview with the same committee, followed by a 1-on-1 interview with the hiring manager. Afterwards had a tour of the building with one of the staff.

For staff roles, the entire hiring process tends to be long due to state regulations. You'll typically hear back about one to two or three weeks after the job posting closes. If you make it to the finalist round, expect an initial interview, which might be a phone call. Then, there's an in-person interview to decide the final candidate. Committees conduct all interviews, which can feel intimidating at first, but the people involved usually try to make you feel at ease. They generally ask the same questions to all candidates to ensure fairness. If you reach the second, usually the final, interview, you'll likely also have a one-on-one meeting with your direct supervisor. The dress code for staff positions is casual professional.
