First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PuppySpot.
Sales Manager
My interview with PuppySpot was great and I think other companies should do this too. It was 5 rounds and I met with C Level execs. It took about 3 weeks from when they saw my application to when I got my offer. It never felt like an interrogation, no matter who I talked to. They seemed really interested in learning about me, my past, and making sure my goals fit with theirs. They kept me in the loop between each step and were clear and considerate. A company that runs interviews this well must be just as strong internally. I also want to mention the offer letter. All the offer letters I've gotten in my career were generic. PuppySpot's was totally different. It was a detailed, well-thought-out letter explaining why they wanted to hire me and what they think I can bring to the team. It was personal, nice, and made me even more excited to join.

Account Manager
The interview journey started with an initial HR phone call, followed by a meeting with a VP. Then, I met with the CEO for a second meeting, and subsequently had a third meeting with two managers. There were also multiple phone calls and communication via LinkedIn messages. A small project was assigned as part of the process. This whole thing dragged on for over four months, ultimately without an offer. My contact had warned me it would be a waste of time, but I went through with it to see the outcome. Most people I encountered were pleasant. However, my meeting with the CEO left me with the impression that he was quite arrogant and had no real experience in the pet industry, despite my 20 years in it. He seemed like one of those executives who thinks they know everything. I felt I could easily outperform him, and he might have felt intimidated by my background, perhaps not wanting someone like me to highlight his shortcomings. Further solidifying this feeling were the negative company reviews I later found, particularly concerning him, which seemed to align with my observations. This company has significant potential; although they claim annual sales of $60 million for puppies and related items, the current leadership is hindering its ability to achieve much more. Bringing in the right executives could unlock that potential.

Product Manager
They said they wanted to move fast on this role, and laid out a timeline that would have closed the interview/hiring process in at most 2 weeks. Despite this, I wouldn't hear from them for weeks at a time until they ultimately just ghosted me after my third interview. When I did speak to them, they said they've been trying to fill this role for upwards of 6 months. Gee, I wonder why! The majority of their product seems to have left recently as well - again, another bad sign.
