Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pulley.
Senior Software Engineer
First there was an online coding challenge, which they called a 'nerd-sniper' challenge, but it was easy enough that ChatGPT could solve it. After that, I had a phone call with a recruiter who was really nice and communicative. She offered me a choice between a frontend or backend take-home assignment, and I picked the frontend one. Then I had a technical Zoom interview with an engineering manager where we talked about my take-home submission and I had to add some features to it. That went well. But the next interview, a 'culture' interview, was really bad. Two people with the same name asked me tough questions about past work experiences. They ended the interview way early and just said they'd be in touch.
- Can you share an instance where you opted for a less dependable method? What was your reasoning behind that choice?
Software Developer
This company is inconsiderate and has no respect for candidates' time, which is an indication that it's an awful place to work. I initially thought the coding assignment was fun, but I think anyone who creates a test like this to screen out candidates is looking for people who won't complain about unrealistic expectations of the work involved. Who else would complete this without talking to anyone from the company?
- Can you write a program to solve the challenge provided by the API? The initial task is fetched via a GET request to /{your_email}.
Software Engineer
Applied and took a quick coding challenge. Then went through a screening interview and another, bigger challenge. After that, there was a tech interview to talk about the challenge.
- Could you add a new feature to your project by live coding, and explain your thought process as you do it?
