First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PUBG.
3D Animator
I went through the interview process for an animator job at PUBG. Everything went pretty smoothly. They asked me some good questions about my career ambitions, the software I'm most comfortable with, and what I like best about PUBG. The people on the team were really nice and professional the whole time. I ended up having to turn down the offer because I'm moving and the salary wasn't quite what I need right now. Still, I thought it was a great opportunity and enjoyed the interview experience.
- Could you tell me about the software you typically use for your work?
HR Coordinator
Applied for this HR Coordinator role about 3 weeks ago. Within a week, I had a quick 30-minute introductory call with the recruiter. It seemed to go well, and the recruiter made me feel like a good fit and said I'd at least get a second interview. However, about a week after that chat, I got a generic email saying my profile wasn't the right fit, which was confusing given the recruiter's feedback. When I asked for more details, they just said they found someone who was a better match, even though the job is still being advertised on LinkedIn.
- Can you tell me about your previous job experiences?
Senior Technical Animator
I was contacted by a headhunter for a technical art position, but the interview shifted focus to technical animation. The first interview felt energetic, and I thought they had good opportunities for me. Then, HR explained the benefits and company structure. I spoke with the VP of the Amsterdam studio, who reviewed my CV thoroughly, pointing out a career timeline overlap. He explained project management, their goals, and asked about my potential contributions. The final interview was with the executive producer in Korea via an interpreter. Despite the language barrier, he was interested in my craft, how I could improve production quality, and his long-term vision for animation. I felt a strong sense of mission. They made an offer that met my requirements. They were patient regarding my other process and my family emergency, which unfortunately required me to postpone my plans. I decided to decline the offer rather than keep them waiting. Throughout the process, I perceived great respect, professionalism, strong vision, and genuine interest in my skills.
- Can you tell me about your technical interview regarding rigging practices, and specifically your experience with the MGear framework?
- Following the technical details, the interview shifted to what you are seeking for your career progression, your interest in PUBG, and what you believe you could contribute there?
Junior Engineer
It began with a video call to briefly meet the team. A couple weeks after, I visited the studio for a more in-depth interview and a tour. The whole thing was pretty easy and took about a month. They were really upfront and kept me informed the whole time, and were honest that they were talking to other people too. You could tell the hiring manager and team really cared about who they were adding to the team, which is always a good thing to see when you're interviewing.
- What do you like to do for fun when you're not working?
- Can you tell me about your first memory related to video games?
- What are you hoping to achieve in your career?
