Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Prudential plc.
Risk Manager
The interview process was straightforward and quick. It wasn't complex. Things went well, although sometimes the response time was a bit slow. Overall, it was a decent experience, but it could be better if there were more frequent updates. It also depends on the hiring manager. The process included a recruiter call, a phone screen, a technical screen, an onsite interview, a background check, and finally, an offer.
- Can you tell me about a challenging situation you've faced and how you handled it?
Manager
So I interviewed with an investment subsidiary of Prudential. The first interview was fine, but everything after that was pretty aimless and didn't really seem related to the job. There were a bunch of "behavioral" panel interviews back-to-back, which stretched the whole thing out for maybe 2 months. When I asked, the interviewers didn't know how my role connected to theirs and seemed to not get my field, even though they acted like they did. What a waste of time! The interviews weren't focused, and some of the interviewers, who weren't native English speakers, had trouble understanding my answers. The interviewers' backgrounds also made me think they might favor people from a specific region. Maybe they were just trying to buy time to look at more candidates, but honestly, candidates are usually interviewing elsewhere at the same time, and time is super important in hiring.
- Fairly typical technical questions
Management Trainee
After submitting an online application, I was invited for a game-based online aptitude test about two weeks later. This test was designed to assess problem-solving speed and accuracy. Following that, I had an HR phone interview that lasted 40 minutes. The conversation was primarily in Vietnamese and focused on my leadership skills and experiences. The HR representative was friendly.
- Have you ever led a team before?
- How do you maintain relationships with your friends?
- What methods did you use to monitor the advancement of group projects?
