Behavioral Case

A headhunter reached out about PRTM in early March. After some back and forth with HR via email, I had a phone chat with a Director. It was mostly about my resume, my interest in PRTM, and my previous job. I asked him a lot of questions about the firm. It took about 5 weeks to get to the next stage, which involved two in-person interviews at their office with an Associate and a Principal. I was surprised by how case-focused these interviews were, with little discussion about my background. About half of the 30 minutes was a case study, and the rest was for my questions. A few days later, I had another phone interview with a Director, lasting about an hour. This included some background questions (resume, career goals, why PRTM) and a 15-minute case. A few days after that, the headhunter contacted me. The firm wanted my full commitment before extending an offer, which I couldn't give since I was interviewing elsewhere. HR then called to say I was no longer considered because my background wasn't a good fit for their current needs. Keep in mind, PRTM's process is known to be slow, potentially taking months. If I had advanced, there would have been more in-person interviews with Directors. The interviews are more case-heavy than advertised, so be ready with a notepad for detailed business discussions. They also seem to want people who will accept an offer immediately. Also, consider the headhunter's relationship with the firm; it might affect their willingness to recommend you if you aren't fully committed.

Behavioral Presentation

I got the interview through university recruiting for MBA graduates. The process included a standard behavioral phone interview with a manager, followed by an introductory in-person interview with a director. The final round consisted of one-on-one interviews with 4 different directors. The leadership I met with were very knowledgeable about their market and capabilities, offering great insight into how the company operated. The whole process was straightforward and felt like a good use of my time. Discussions mainly focused on my personal growth and passions.
