First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Provident Bank.
Compliance Intern
The interview process was super easy and simple. It started with a screening call with HR, followed by a behavioral interview with the potential manager. They asked standard behavioral questions that change based on the area of the internship you're interested in.
- What single word would your professors use to describe you, and why?
Sales Manager
Phone interview and in person seemed to go really well, I sent a follow up email thanking the manager and got a response that I would hear back. Then I got an HR email saying I was no longer being considered. I asked the recruiter for feedback but got no response.
- Can you outline your 30-60-90 day plan?
- Describe your past business development experience.
Risk Manager
The interview process included a one-hour video call and a two-hour in-person meeting. It was informational, informal, and very friendly. The team provided a lot of context and answered all my questions about the role and team. The office was great.
- Can you explain the concept of the three lines of defense?
Banking Center Supervisor
The interviewer was unprepared and spoke really fast, showing up just minutes before the interview. It was very unstructured. I realized pretty quickly I was overqualified. I'd done some research on the interviewer and the company, which seemed to catch her off guard. She even commented on my preparation. My resume also clearly showed my qualifications, including an 'exceptional manager' rating from my last annual review. While not a terrible experience, my time felt wasted. It became clear the supervisor role reports to a manager, and since I'm already a manager, it wasn't a good fit. This could have been seen on my resume, saving me an early morning trip. It felt like a waste of my time, which I didn't appreciate. From a legal perspective, as a hiring manager, I know you typically interview several candidates before making an offer, especially for internal candidates being considered for future roles. The interview lasted about 30 minutes before we both realized it was a waste of time. Overall, it reflected poorly on the company.
- Were you responsible for sales targets in your previous job?
