First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Providence Health Care.
Registered Nurse
The interview process was pretty straightforward and involved a series of scenario-based questions. It was a bit challenging, but that's what I expected. All the questions were fair, and the interviewer was really nice. I'd totally recommend this employer.
- How would you handle a conflict situation with a coworker?
Health Unit Coordinator
They asked a lot of behavioral questions to gauge your knowledge of Providence's mission, goals, and values. They value authenticity over made-up answers. It's best to answer generally or describe how you would handle a situation if you hadn't prepared specific stories.
- Can you explain your understanding of cultural competency?
- Tell me about a time you exceeded expectations.
- Can you share an instance where you had a disagreement with a colleague?
Insurance Follow Up Representative
After submitting my application, I got a text asking some more questions, then an email to schedule. The interview was 30 mins. They asked me to talk about myself and my experience. It felt like they thought I didn't have the specific insurance follow-up experience they wanted, and they seemed to write me off. They kept saying how busy it is there and there's never downtime. I mentioned getting 'busy work' which they took to mean I wasn't busy enough, but they didn't let me explain, and I never got a chance to elaborate. The truth is I work fast and need more work. With about 9 minutes left, one interviewer brought that up. They didn't ask any behavioral questions. I wish they'd just be direct and say they don't think I have the experience. I met all the job description qualifications though, so maybe they need to update it. I checked the portal later and saw they weren't considering me for either of the two positions I applied for, less than an hour after the interview. No rejection email.
- Can you share some information about your background and professional history?
- Tell me about your experience with insurance appeal follow-ups.
- How do you manage your workload, considering there's a lot of work and typically no downtime?
Warehouse Manager
The interview process starts off automated and impersonal. Make sure your resume has all the keywords an algorithm needs to see so it picks your application out of the digital stack. The first interview is a video where you respond to preset questions - there's no interaction with a person. It's hard to tell if an algorithm scans these videos for keywords or if a human watches them. Prepare by reading the job posting, some Glassdoor reviews on the actual job duties, and the division's page on the site. If you're professional, prepared, and brief, you should move to the next phase where you'll interact with a real person. As with all interviews, your experience may vary at this point because people's subjective opinions come into play.
- Would you be open to relocating for this position?
