After a basic screening call, I was ghosted by the recruiter after 1 round. Haven't had that happen in awhile so I think it really speaks to the type of company Provi is. Comical.

Met with a hiring manager, then the manager over the position, then the team. Had to do a design test. Overall, standard and good experience. All meetings were virtual as they are a work from home company, so it was very flexible.

Behavioral

It was a straightforward interview process. I had a recruiter call, then a peer interview, a stakeholder interview, and finally a hiring manager interview. The hiring manager and peer interviews were mostly spent talking about how great Provi is, almost trying to convince me to join rather than assessing skills. The hiring manager spent a lot of time discussing manager-to-direct-report leadership styles, mentioning bad reviews on this app, and the overall impact on employer brand (which felt like a red flag). Reading between the lines, it seems like there are a lot of inefficiencies and morale issues at the company. After reading reviews, it all made sense. The interview process confirmed this wasn't the right organization for me.

I was first contacted by Provi via an external recruiter. Then, I had a 1-hour call with a technical lead. This was followed by a 4-hour cross-functional panel interview the next week, which included a model building exercise using a web-based Jupyter interface and a provided dataset. We discussed how I'd use the data for a specific business use case. The offer came the day after the panel. The interviewers were friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about Provi. I left with a clear understanding of the work. It was a fun and quick process.
